The Longest Day - Maps

We'll be working with MyTopo.com to produce maps for the 2007 event. A sample copy arrived in my mailbox while I was at The Endorphin Fix this past weekend. Scale is 1:24,000 and the contour lines are at 10 foot intervals. Compared to the NY/NJ Trail Conference East Hudson Trail maps we used the last two years (featuring 1:30,000 scale with 100 foot contours) there is substantially more detail of the land features. The sacrifice on the Topo is the loss of the excellent trail and park boundary detail found on the EHT maps.

So here's the official recommendation: bring copies of the East Hudson Trail maps but be prepared to find a few of the finer features on the Topo map during the Rogaine finish if you want to clear that section.
