The Longest Day Update June 12th

As promised I have some information to share.

The Registration deadline (June 20th) is rapidly approaching and we're seeing the usual flurry of last second activity. If you are on the fence I'd really like to implore you to get it done sooner rather than later. Why? Because as of now we are right on the cusp of utilizing the full fleet of sea kayaks from our primary vendor Hudson Valley Outfitters. They can arrange to bring in boats from a second vendor but the logistics will be substantially more difficult and there is a step function in our cost structure for bringing in the additional vendor. NYARA is a 501(c)3 charity, we aren't doing this for profit, fame or the invites to wild A-list celebrity parties that producing these events garner. Yes Denise, I know all about those. Thanks for not forwarding them to me.

If you're sitting out there waiting to register because you are worried about hanging up a bunch of cash, don't sweat it. If you register and can't race for some reason we're pretty easy to deal with on refunds. Say you shatter an ankle this weekend. We'll refund your money in full. Seriously, we've been there.

Course setter wanted (all points bulletin). Your pal Dr Evil is having a bit of an othopedic problem this week. My right knee has blown up like a balloon for reasons yet to be determined. It was fine for about a week after MiX and then suddenly it blew up. It's been drained once and breaks and dislocations are ruled out but the joys of our current system of medical care have prevented me from jumping through the hoops that get the soft tissue examined. Can you say next week? Woohoo!!! Anyhow, if you know an experienced expert-level orienteerer or someone similarly qualified who will be available Friday June 22nd or very early June 23rd let us know. I may need a little help getting some of the harder points hung for the event.
