When is a race not a race?

When it's a bandit! WooHoooo!!!!!!!!

December 9th has shaped up nicely for me to host a Bike-Orienteer-Bike training session out of the house in Philly. The final piece of the puzzle dropped in when the NFL agreed to help make this event happen and moved the Steelers vs. Patriots matchup to 4pm from its original 1pm kickoff. Hey, I can't be out riding when the Black and Gold is perhaps making the last viable stand against the Cheatriots quest to go undefeated.

Anyhow, Philadelphia has a pretty awesome set of bike trails (Check out this map). Using them you can work your way out to Valley Forge without much climbing and without much traffic. It just so happens that DVOA is hosting a meet that day on their Mount Misery map. I would think a Red course after the ride out would be a fitting distance and difficulty. However, for those less expert I'd suggest a friendly run through on an Orange course.

You can do this "event" as a team. You can do this "event" as a solo. But since this isn't an official race it's unlikely that there would be any kind of super special prizes/awards to recognize things like a "best soloist" or "best team" on something called the "Pro course". And definitely don't expect anything swagtacular if you happen to be the "fastest soloist" or "fastest team" on the "Open Course". Because this definitely isn't a race. Merely an invite to train. Really hard. And rub it in the face of the other people who just happen to be out training that day if you happen to train a little more quickly than they do.

Send me an e-mail if you have interest in training on December 9th. :)
